Farewell To EQ Village Markets
Farewell To EQ Village Markets
From the very beginning when we started Sunrise Asian Produce in early 2005, our goals were not only to source/grow/consult and supply the best quality produce available to restaurateurs and chefs in the Australian food industry but also we wanted to make these amazing quality produce available, accessible and hopefully become the staple to the Australian household. We think in some small ways we have achieved that.
Not long after we started Sunrise Asian Produce, we realised that in order to make these produce become available, sustainable and has a place in Australian market, first we must raise the awareness of these produce. We thought what a better way to do this than to be at the growers market. Wednesday EQ Village Markets (used to be called and I guess to many of our loyal customers still call it, Fox’s Growers Market) was the first and only market we have been attending continuously for the past 10 years.
At EQ markets we have been able to introduce many of best quality produce old and new. We are able to get in touch with our customers and understand about what they like, what they love and would like to try. The responses we received on what we had to offer were quite astonishing and overwhelming. Customers were excited and wanted to know more about the produce. To us this was a great first step on what we wanted to achieve.
Next we wanted to create an enjoyable experience of getting to know our quality produce to our customers. We believed that the best way to get to know the produce is simply by using it. EQ Markets presented us with a great opportunity to explain to our customers first hand about our quality produce and thanks to its versatilities we were able to demonstrate on what it can do.
At the market we often answered queries about the produce, offer suggestions (on how to identify, choose, use, cook & the best way to store our produce) as well as provided many recipes to our customers (you know the brown paper bag recipes!). The feedback from our customers was that they have gained more confident about the produce and really enjoyed cooking and having it.
Since we did not have a central location, store or shopfront for our customers anywhere. For once a week, EQ Markets was a kind of place of contact for majority of our non-trade customers. It was a place that initiated our first contact with all of our new public customers. These very first contacts have quickly turned into relationships and ultimately friendships for which we are forever grateful.
We have thought long and hard about our decision to leave EQ Village Markets. But in order for us to move forward and be able to continue to bring you the best in produce, products, services and much more, we have now decided to bid a farewell to the EQ Village Markets.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our loyal customers who we can call our friends for their continuing support over the last 10 years. We could not do it without you!
As the saying goes one door closes, another opens. This is not a sad goodbye but rather an invitation to a new beginning. We would love to announce our new and exciting next chapter:
