In winter the days are getting shorter and the nights are getting colder, our body clock is affected by these changes.  Our body clock or biological clocks regulate and drive our circadian rhythms. Circadian rhythms are physical, mental and behavioral changes that follow a roughly 24-hour cycle, responding primarily to light and darkness in an organism’s environment.

The disruptions of our circadian rhythms will most likely to have negatives impacts to our body as our circadian rhythms influence many important bodily functions like sleep-wake cycle, hormones release and regulate body temperature to name a few.

Our bodies in winter tend to switch into hibernation mode. We crave rich, high-carb and comfort foods that will help us to ease into this energy conserving and more sluggish time.

Fruits and vegetables have been proven to assist our body in stabilising the blood sugar, increasing serotonin and maintaining our energy levels. Other good ways to keep our bodies healthy and energised are to drink lots of water, keep warm and have a proper rest.
